Asher C. Taylor is a doctor and lives n Manchester village. At tlie last sessiou of the board of supervisors he presente'! a claim for services at a post-mortem od the body of Oeo. Scliaible. The claim was not certitied, and by direction of the board it was returned to the Doctor for the necessary certifícate. The claim was promptly returned to the board certitied to by Coroner C. F. Kapp, M. D., of Manchester. The claim was referrud to the committee on civil claims, of whicb Supervisor Burch of Manchester is a member, and the committee reoommended its disallowance, (Mr. Burch uiaking the report). Which report of the committee was adopted, and the claim was disallowed. The Doctor, by bis attorney, A. F. Freeman, Esq., applied to the supreme court for relief. The court issued a writ of maudamus to show cause ou th 5th inst., and was servcd on the clerk of the board of supervisors the 8th inst. The hearing of the case is set down for the 19th inst. The clerk imniediately notified the chairtnan of the board, the proseeutinjf attorney, and th committee on civil claims. There is no dispute over the fact that the work was lone. There is no dispute over the charges, as they are the samejas iave been allowed for twenty years past. But the claim was diii:illiwd me ,..„1.1 tiviievcd u post inurtem unnecessiiry. The ruling of the supreme court id looked for with interest. Since writing the above Supervisor Flowlett, chairman of the board, has en;ered an appearanc, and n company with Proseeuttng Attnrney Norrls, has jeen preparing au auxwer to the mandamus. He asks that action by the supervisors may be postponed until the reguar meeting of the board. Tlie grunting of tbia request will save the couuty ome 5200 or more, which a special meeting woukl cost.
