The followinL article taken trom me last Unlverslty Chronicle, tells how t would have this university city "boomed,1' and wc bclievc that its ideas :irc excellent. I.Vail them: To "boom" Ann Arbor bas been tbc cry for souie little time; various schcmcs have been put sorward for the proposed "boom.' There is a feature about the enterprise that has considerable interest to a student community, and that is the relation of the University to our beautiful city. Whatever will help the University will help Ann Arbor, and on the other hand, whatever will help Ann Arbor will lend some of its good influences toward the University. Yale, Harvard and some other eastern colleges have souvenirs In the shape of handsomeand interesting books setting forth undcr ornamental covers, inleresting letter-press and beautiful llustnuions, the features of special Interest ol both city and college. These books are so well gotten up and so full of the characterUtic marks of the city that every visitor, every student and sojourner feel8 that he is leaving the best possible souvenir behind hiin if he goes away without one. While Ann Arbor cannotboast of as many fossilized land-mark as sume of our older university citiee, it can boast of many points of general in terest; a handsotne campus and many places of exquisite beauty that if rightly chosen and placed in appropriate settings, would flll a book with a lively and pleasant interest to cvery visitor and student who bas known the town. Therc is no reason why Ann Arbor should be behind in these enterprises. There is no doubt that a book similar to the onc referred to would be in constant demand in our city and bc a paying undertaking to any one who had the ability and euterprisa to complete it. The business men- at least all those who have somc enterprise beyondtheirown selflsh intereats- would, without doubt, lend a very considerable support to such an undertaking.
