Prohibition Convention
Tlie proliibitioiiists held a county convention at tlic oíd Baptist Cburch last Monday. Frank Hinckley, of Ypsilanti, was elected chairman, and A. B. Sinith, of Milán, seeretary. C. R. Psttlson, of Ypsilanti, moved that this oonventfon elect a doublé delegHÜon, BukbtH ti delégales instem I of 11, and send a rcijuest that all be admitted. He wanted to ace a big convention, and did Dot bellere in runnlbg it on the pieayune plaD. This motiuil was carried. The following deleates were then chosen : lst district- Johnson Backus, Webster; H. Laraway, Northflelil ; Josepli Doane Halem: A. ü. Cruzler, Ann Arbor town ; J. W. Wing, Helo; A. K. t'iuiKliii. Mylvuti; John Scluimacher, B. J. Uonrud and N. W. ('heever Ann Arbor City; Julia K. Stannard Dexter vlllage; (ieo. Hoynton, Chelsea. M district- Itev. Mr. Wood, A H. Smlth, Mllnn: Kev. J). J. Odell, York A W. WrlKht, lirldKewater; E. 8. Sliaw, Uhas. K. Pattison, f. Hinckley, Ypsilanti; Wm Dell, Saline; J. M. Sweet, Pltufleld J. U Shutts, I,odl ; E. L. Glovur, Lodl. After this, Judge Clieever made a speech to Mie convention, (trongly coinmendlng the Eolghtl of Labor and the great movement of laboréis in this country, and mlvlsed the prohibitionists to join hands with them and help them along. The Judge's speech was a good one and well received.
