A special meeting of the council was held Thmsday evening last, and the folInwing "Board of Building Inspectora" appointed by the uiayor, according to the statute in 8uch cases niaile and provided : Prof. J. B. Davis, Chas. A. Poland, Wm. Neitliammer. The tumbled-down condition of the old Earl block, now owned and occupied by Geo. Clarken and F. I Parker was discussed, and the comtuittee requested to inspect the same and report at once to the council. Mr. Clarken, who was present, said that he had laid out some $300 or $400 in improvements, but that he had noticed some very wide cracks tlint had come in the wall witliin the past six weeks, and he was greatly degirous of (earlng clown hls portion before some one got killed by its falling in. Another special session of the council was held Mondsy evening. After the reading of the minutes, the following report of the Board of Building Inspectora was read : To tht Honorable, the Mayor, Recorder and Alder men of City of Aun Arbor: Your commlttee on buildings to whom was reierred the condltlon of the building at Nos 8 and North Main streel respectfull.v report tliat on July 23d, 18K, all the members of Raid commlttee met at flald building and examlned il Irom the foundation to the roof. Allinendinjfer the report was accepted and adopted. Aid. Neitliammer thenoffered a resolucondeming the buildings. The ayes and nays being called for resulted in a unaninious vote. On motion of Aid. Allinendinger the bill of Harkins & Dignan for lastmontirs lighting was allowed. $131.28. Aid. Martin, chairman of the Street lighting commlttee invited the council to acconipany that cominittee on Saturday evening on ride about the city to investíate the Street lighting. The attention of the council was also called to the miserable conditlon of the lighting of the court house tower.
