Alexander I., Prince of Bulgaria, ia th Bon of Princc Alexander of Battenberg, brotbor of the late Empresa of Russia, and was born April 5, 1857. On November 14, 1885, King Milan of Servia declared war against Bulgaria. Prince Alexander imniediatelv assumed personal command of his troops, and defeated the Strvians at various points. Peace was rostored, but Aleiander had incurrcd the displeasurc of the Czar of Russia, to whose machinations the revolt of August 22 i due.
