Therc are few men of sufflcient berotsm to takt ¦ nominallon in the face of an ailverse majority, and wlien we do find such men we ought to support tliem with a hearty Rood will. Andrew Campbell, of Pittslield, carne tip like a hero, and accepted the nomlnation for senator with a majority of from 1,000 to 2,000 Itariog hiin in the face, and for that deed ever3' republican In this district owes liim their hearty good will, a debt they should pay at the polls, clieerfally. In the tírst representative district is another liistancc. Thls district has a democratie majority of from 100 to 200. Frank Allmendlnger, whom the republicans have noininated is as cnpable a man for the position as can be found in the district. He took this nomlnation, not from liïs own choice, but because his party desired he should take it, and the party owes him a hearty support therefor. Mr. Allmendinger has a splendid university educatiori and brains cnough to apply that education to business. He is oue of the most prompt and best business men in this city. Ag a member of the present city council he takes rank second to no member thereof, (our wortliy mayor included) in the quick uodentondiog of questions and the busines8-like method of expediting the matters that come before that body. Honest to a penny, devoid of all petty dodges and prevarications, you will always tind Mm on the side he bulieves to be right, no matter if the whole body is opposed to hlm. In short, he Is honest, fearle?s, uprlght, and would make a inott excellent lea;islator should he be fortúnate enough to secure a majority of the votes on the 2d of November next. Give hlm yourhand- and vote. To speak of standard time in the board of supervisors is like putting a lighted match in a cargo of dynamlte. It causes an explosión.
