The republican conventioii placed la nomination for sheriff Frederick B. BrauD, of Ann Arbor township. Mr. Brnn is a Germán though boni and raised n this vicinity. Ho has a good Euglish and Gerniau education, and is eniinently qaalified in all other respecté to discharge the duties of the office of sheriff. He has held the office of township clerk for two terms and also of township treasurer two terms and is now serving his fourth term as supervisor, in all of wliich responsible positions he has served the public with eminent satisfaction, as is seen in the large majorities given him at each election. He is a true and reliable republican, and though lie is not wliat raay be called a noisy politician, is [always true to his convictions, conservative In all his movements, with a steady aim to do right in the discharge of all public trusts as well as in all personal relations. He is la all respecta worthy of his election, which we most earnestly hope he will secure. The republicans and residents of t!ie second legislative district of Waslitenaw county have much reason to congratúlate themselves over the resnlt of the convcntion held at Saline, Frklay last wliich reanlted in the nomination ol Matthew Seoger, of Saline, for representativo'. Akhougli a resident of one cl the strong democratie townships, Mr Seeger lias been repeatedly elected to represent his town on tho board of super Tisors, and has always discharged the dutte thereby imponed intelligently and satisfaetorlly. Mr. Seeger is a representativo of the best Germán element o' Waslitenaw county, one of wliom hiü fellow-countrymen inay well feel proui ard glad to honor. He Is a!so deserving of the henrty and cordial support o Americans, as well, and of all who love our oonntry and ts institutiot)8, as he proved his devotlon and loyiilty to both by taking part in tlie stniggle for their exiftence, bing a member of the Twentieth Mieliijiaii Inlintry. He is a prominent member of the Aibeiter Ver eln, of Saline, and is in hearty Sj'uip ithy with all inteilifrent measures to elévate the laboriog classes. Matthew Seege should be and wlll be elected by the vot ers of the second district.
