Mr. Editob:- As a paren t and resident of Aun Albor, I feel u deep interest in the schools of the city. And as the futlier of two little girls, who will probably lmve to altend (irammar depa rimen t before long, I feel soniethinjr of an interest in the place where thls department is to be located. At present the eigiitli or hlgbeat gndc of this department ia locited in the third stm-y of the high scliool building. At the school meeting last September, the sum of $24,000 was appropriated for a ncw school building. Against this all parents should protest. Tlicre is money enou'li approprinted to give our children comlortuble rooms on lower floors, aml it slioulJ be uaed for that piirpose. The entira school district is deeply interested n this subject, and wliilc everybody's say cannot be adopted, or even noticed perhaps, yet it is to be hoped that good judgment will be usetl, and the health of the pupils placed above all other coiisider:itions. What is wauted is more school rooms on the lirst and second tloors, so that this everlasting running up and down stairs will be reduced to the lowest possible necessity.
