The pa pers of the state have been sinfiiilurly silcnt In reference to their choice for regents of the university, two of hom are to be nomlnated at the coming Kepnblican stute convention to be held In Detroit on the 28d inst. In order to set the ball rolling the CoLUtiER proposes the name of William J. Cocker, of Aditen. Mr. Cocker is by education, experience, abillty and natural quallttofttlona wcll fitted for the position of regent of our universlty. 11e is young, active and well up in literary ;ittalnmenU, and In faet he is a worthy son of that noble man, Dr. B. F. Coeker, known and loved by so many of the citi" zens of Michigan, irreepctiye of party or poettlon. Shoulil the choice of the party füll upon Mr. Oockerwe beliove liin name wonld be a nre taütman of victory for the republican party.
