An ailjourneil meeting of the pomologi ical society was beid the l'Jth inst., witli Pres. Scott in the ch:iir. The secretary raad h letter from II. E. Vandemao, Chii'f of División of l'omology, United States Department of Agriculturc, asking tor a list of the niembers of the society who are interested iu fruit-raising. la order to make the work of this división of real valué to the fruit producers of this country the compihitiott of a list of the poinoiogists of the United States is to be umie. The fruit growers of Wathtenaw oounty are therefore requested to altend the next meeting of the society on the 2d of April, in order to facilítate tliis list. Also a letter from the Department of State was read by Mr. üanzhoru in whie.li a list of the members oí' lilis association is roquesttd in order to place the valuable reports on the agricultura and horticultura of foreign countries before the farmers and fruit growers of the United States. Mr. W. tblnu he has a Kal prohibitlon drink to present to the public and Intenda to apply at once fora patent on the filter he invented, in which he uses paper pulp Inatead of sand and some secret Ingrediënt wliich clears the eider at once as ít comes from the press, and arrests fertnentution, at least, till the trees blossom agüin. He wishes tojoln the Ann Arbor fruit preserving oompany. Tlie trausportation of fruit was discussed in a very lively iiianner. 41r. Clough: The fruit growers about here paid ia one week last year more money to the Express oompany tlian the cost of a car ollered by the Michigan Central for the whole season. Mr. Baldwin: Last year much of the fruit shlpped from here and along the Michigan Central in this county did not pay expenses, yet the Express company raised the freight to Detroit 5 ce::ts per hundred pounds. Mr. Qanzborn: Some of orates were delivered by the Express company at Detroit upside down, and berrles spilled. The frequent bandllng by the Express company here, could be avoided by hiring a car to which the grower could bring his berries and fruit, lmndling it hiinself. Mr. Qanzhorn was added to the committee on traniporteUon. A tinited elïort by the Iruit growers of S iMitenaw for cheaper rates and better care in Iransportation is desirable. As this topic will be more fully discussed at the April meeting, every fruit grower will find it to his interest to attend. Mr. Marsh stated that tlie fruit growers of the western sliore by proper orgánication had received chcaper rates in transpoitation.
