In tlio 5'ear 1835 a controvcrsy arose known as "The Toledo War," belween Michigan and Ohio in rejfard t the boundury lino and the richt to n strip of land ti. whieh both laid claim. The convention held at Detroit that year formed a constitution by which Michigan clalmd the teiritory in question, while Ohlo haü a similar claim. At first there was danger of bloodshed, as Michigan marched in nrmi into Ohio to tiike poiiowlon of the disputed tenitory. But the excitement snbsided, and the matier was adjusted. In June 1830, Congress pasted au act admittML Michigan into the Union, on coi oition that she relinquish her claim to the dbputed teiritory, In ))lnce of whlch the regloa koown as "ihc Upper lVninsula " was ffiven her. These conditions were rejected b}' one convention, but accepted bv another held in December 183G; and in Janiiaiv, 1837, Michigan was admitted i íto the Union
