Some odd f acts aro occasionally just bcneath a most commonplaco surfaco. Happening in a largo hat and cap establishment- wh(Uesale-Lho other day, I Lnqnired for the propriotor. A boy about eleven yeari old was pointcd out to me. "But I want to seo the proprietor," Isaid. "I am the proprietor of this store - what can I do for you?" cxclainied tho lad. And, sure enough, invcstigation proved that he was the actual owner of tho establishment, and nominally the head of the firm. His father owned the store, but having other business as well, and not wishing to carry them both in his own name, presented the hat and cap establishment to his eleven-year-old son, and placed the boy in charge. Of course, tho father still exercises general contiol, but the logal head of the firm, signer of cliecks, keeper of the combination of the safe and man of authority II Iho son, undoubtedly the youngest wholesalo merchant in Chicago. - Chicago JJerald. -A repeating riüe, invented by a French olticer, can be loaded with seven cartridges in ten seconds, and corapletely discharged in four, and it doen not require to be removed from the shoulder until the magazine 8 e bauited. . . .... . -
