The telephone wires aro daily inereasing in number and length over and around the Prussian capital. The total length oí the wires ia, in round nnmbers, 12,000 kiloinetres, ot veiy neady tho diameter of the earth. There are niño exchange offices in the city, nnd 10,000 speaking tubes. The nuinber of subscribers in Berlín is about 6, 000, who hold an average of 100,000 conversations daily. Ia the neighborkood, the number of conversations averages daily between 1,500 and 2,000. The Berlín telephone system employs 800 officials.
