Qq the 27th day of September the new liquor tiix law goe9 into effect, wliicli ni ikcs soine radical changes in the present law. The tax is fixed as follows: Spiritous or mixeil liquors (exeept patent medicines) and brewed or nmli liquors at retail $500; brewed or malt llquors only, at wholesale and retail or at wholesale or retail, jt300; spiritous liquors at wliolesale, $500; spiritous liquors at Wholesale and retail, $.S00; manufaetiiring brewed or malt 1 quors, $65; inanufacturinfr spiritons liquors, $800. Tliis t:i is divided cqimlly between the county and the city, village or township in which the tax was collected. Tlie bonds of liquor dealers shall not be less tlian $3,000 nor more than $0,000, and the council is allowed to ref&to a bond, if the principie Is known to bea persoi unfit to couduct the buslof llqoof selling. It is unlawful to sell liquor to students, a9 well as to minors or to allow theni to play at cards, dice, billiards or any game of chance In any part of i building where spiritous liquors are 8d11. Tlio saloons must close at nine altlioub tlie council in i.y provide that they muy reniain open nntil eleven A person selling to minors sliall bc liable to not less than $50 daiaagM to the parent or jsuardian ot the minor to whom he has sold liquor. The penalty for violatinr any provisión of the act is a fine of not more thaa $00 and costs orby imprlsonment of not more than niiicty diys, or both fine and imprisoninent.
