The probable cause of thia outrageous churre waa that as the church had put in the electric light the Gas Co would pive them a big whiick to end with. Thus does this monopoly continue week after week to levy lts extortions on tho public, t strikes tbc rletl and poor, church and saloon alike. All they have to do is to uit on a little more pressure at the gas works and all the busy little metre wheils will begin to spin. It is carnestly to be lopeü tlmt naturul gas will be found here o hm to entibie the public to free itself rom the leecu which sucks its blood ; and then when an inquiry is made it adds nsnlt to injury by rusbing around to a i f.
