The books of the U. S. internal revcnue dcpartment show that tliere are 11 fi wholesale liquor dealers paying the U. S tax in Iowa and 3,415 payinjr the rateti cïealer's tax. In the state of Kansas thert uc 1,009 retail dealers ptying the tax, Both of these stntes have the strfcteet of prohibitory laws. The Detroit Conference of the M. E. Church will be held at Saginaw City, on the 14th inst. Bishop llarris, who was to have presided is at the point of death, and no othor assignment Ims yet been made, so far as is known.
