Burilara broke hito the merchaat tuiloring establishment ot' J. M. StafĂbrd last Saturday nlght, gaining un entrance by cutting out two panes of glass tosrctber witli the sa8h, at the back end of the store. Tliey stole eeveral rolls of clotli, a suit of clothes which liad been made for Con. Tuomey, three or four rolls of fine trimmings and other tilinga amonnting to soine $000 or $700, Mr. Stafford esti mates. To draw their booty away Irom the store they took a hand sled belonging to the errand boy in the store, taking also lus rubber ulster to cover them over with. They took a large pair of shears also, but left them in the back yard, probably as not being of sufficienl value to carry away. They also left on the preniises a couple of cold chisels and a broken handled hunimer, which had evldently been "boir.wed" for the occasion. Tuat they were " professionals "' or men understanding the vulue of tliis particular sort of merchandise, is evident from the class of goods which tliey took, sortlng out only the best, and sucu as tliey could readily realize money on. The same gang for it was not the work of any one man, attempted to break into Win. Wagner's store next door to Mr. Stallord's, but were brouaht up standing by iinding an inside blind tliat it was difflcult to cut tbronsh. Tlils blind undoubtedly saved Mr. Wagner several liiiinl ii-i dollars. Mr. Wagner tells us that some flfteen years ago he had his store broken Into through thls same window, and some $200 worth of goods stolen, wliicli WU the cause of the inside blinda belng kept up ever elnce, and the investment has certainly proved a protltable oue.
