The Mlowlng article In reftrence to Rev. Theo. Hnven, a son of tlie late Dr. E. O. Haven, Ex-President of the University, will be of interest to our reader?, as he is well-known to many of our citizens: Rev. Tlieodore W. Baren, wlio has been pastor of the Congregatlonal church here flnce June, left January 2 to visit a brothcr at Evanston, 111., where lie reinuincd one week, and then went to Elmira, N. Y. He left there on the lOth tor New York City, where he mailed to this city his resignatlon, wliich was wrltten while at Eluiira. Nothing has b en heard of him sílice. lie is 24 yoars oíd, a gradúate of Andover (Musa.) College, and son of the late Bishop Haven. He wis ay studious, but quiet, of a nielancholly dtsposition, and noticeubly eccentric. Altbough giviug excellent satit-faction, lic seemed to feel unqualified to lili the place of his predccessor in the hearts of the congraf;1'00. anJ tlie f'ct thal the tonner pastor had been frequently called to efflciate at lunerals and weddings here, is aupposed to have preyed upon his sensitive and overtaxed mind until intímate friends regarded hlsgrowing peculiarities seriously. His resignatiou was a genuine surprise and excited much sympathy. It was not acceptcd by the church by a series of resolutions granting him three months vacation, whlcli was adopted and niailed him at Elmira. where it is understood his mail remalns uncalled for. A brother at Evanston and friends at Elmira iind this city are endeavorin; to get trace of him. There is much alarm expressed by his friends here. A party of some twenty had started for a slelgh ride with a dance at the end of the ride, last evening, when one of the young ladies dlscovered a keg of beer stowed away under the seat. She immediately told of her find, and every girl got out of the slelgh and left the fellovvs to go alone. Served them riglit. See cali for County Republlcan Club meeting.
