Nowitis for Michigan to put forward her favorite son, (ien. Hussell A. Aler. As Logan woald have been Blaine's successor at the head of the ticket had he lived, just so liis mantel having fallen on the shoulders of our brave ex-Governor Gen. Alger, it is to him v;e now look to lead us to the vic'.orics to come. With liim for president we would liave a season of rest and security, for Michigan 's industries in lunibcr, salt, mincrals and wool would have no attacks from the Chief Magistrate. Ilis pure life and noble character would surrouiid him with just such cabinet oiBcera while the country could have what it missed in the death of Chandler and Iogan. Here's to our success. This country has tried free trade and under its baneful influence utter stagnation to business resulted every time it has been tried. Another trial wlll be bilt another rcpetitlon of those disasters.
