Thomas Fleming vs. Francis Beemau Slunder. Continued by defeadant. There nre few candidates beiug talked up for local offlcea, as near as we can learn. We Ik ar 110 names serionsly mentioned for m lyor on either siüe, though Mayor Sm'ith can have a renomination f he wishes lt, without opposition. For recorder tliere Is a warm contest waging between Wil i W. Watts and Jas. H. Bach, for the nominntioo on the democratie ticket. I ti tlio lst waril there is no doubt but Mint G. Frank Allniu)i(linrer, who has been au excellent man on the conticil, will be ununimou-ly renomliiated on the republican ticket, for alderman, if hu wil] accept, and In the 2d wurd Win. Herz will probably receive the united support of both parties. In the 3d ward Zenas Sweet will uudoubtedly receive the republican noniinatlon without opposition. and the demoeratt will, without doubt, renominate the present encumbent, Mr. Wm. Nelthammer. In the 4th ward everything Is at sea, but there is a dfcposition to nomínate good ineu on both sides. lh the 5th ward Aid. Earl Ware lias made a good and faitlifnl council man for two terina, and tliere is a strong undercurrent tliat will surely retain him in the posltion, unless he positively refuses- which he may do, f r the place is not a very desirable one. Iu the Otli ward the friends of Pied Barker are justly iiulifinantover his being cheated out of the seat to which he was chosen last year, and will without doubt deniand his renomination this year on the republicau ticket. For the most important offices in the whole city to the tax-piiyers, tiie supervisors, tliere is profound silence. Of course Mr. O'Hearn is considered a üxture iu the N and 4th wards, aud will have no opposition. In the Ist district Mr. Gardner will probably be renoininated by the republicans if he desires it, while in the 3d we understand that Mr. Butts is anxious to run again on the democratie ticket. These are all the candidates we have heard mentioned for the various places, but it isearly yet and the woods will most likely be full of them belore two weeks from next Monday rolls around. The prohibition party, we notice by the Register, has called its con vention for Thuráday, and they will put In a full ticket.
