To the Repnbllcan Electora of the United States: In accordance with usage, and obcdlent to the instructions ofthe Kcpubllcan National Convention of 1884, a National Convention of delegtes, representativos ol the Kepublioan party, will be held at the city of Chicago, 111., on Tuesday, the lftth day of June, 1888, at 13 o'clock, noon, for the parpóse or nominating candldates ior President and VicePresident, to De siipported at the next National election, and for the transactton of such other liiiinass as may be there presented. Kepubllcau electors In the several States and votore without regard to past politica! afflliatlon, d'il rences and aciion, who belleve ÍQ the American principal or a protoctlve tarifl', for the detona and dcveloijment ol home industries and the elevalion of home labor, who wonld reduce the national taxes and irevent the accnmalation ol the surplus in the treasury in harmony wlih this principie; who are opposed lo the attempt now more openlv avowed than ever belore to abolish a policy which mild strike down American labor to the level of the under-paid and oppressed worker of loreigu landf who favor a sjstem of naval and const dernwM wnich will enable the United Staies to condsct lts international nogotlatlous with self-respect: who gratefully cherish the defender of the country; who condtmn aud resent the continned and uniust exclusión of rapidly growing Territories wbich have n Indisputable iltle to adm:ssion nto the sisterhood of Staies; who are In favor ol Iree schools and popular education; a free and honest ballot, and a fair count; the proteclion of .vcry citizcn of the United States In his legal rights at home and abroad; a foreign policy that shall extend our trade and commerce to every land and rlime and shall propcrly support the dinlty of the n.ition and the promotion of frlendly and harmonious relations and interconrse between all the SüUes, are cordially inylted to unlte ander this cali in the formation of a National ticket. Each State shall be entitled to four delegites, atlarire, and for each representative atlarge two dele- and each Corgresulonal district, each Terrllory and thp District ofCoInmbla to two delcgates. '1 he deli gates-at-large shall be ebuxen by popular State convenlions called on not les than twenty days published notlce and not less than thiriy days bi'fore the meeting of the National Convention. The delegatcs frem ttie district oiColumbia shall be chosen at a Convt'ntion constituted ofmembers elcted ín primary district aascmblles held under the cali and direction ofthe Republican Central Commltiee in said District. An altérnate delégate for each delégate in the National Convention to act in case of tne absence of the delégate, shall be elected In the sime mmner and at the same time as the delégate.
