The District Convention
esterday's convention of republican detentes from the four counties of the Seoond District assembled at Adrián. Washtenaw was represented bv the followU.g : J. C. Kuowlton, H. M. Woods, Wm Judson, Geo. H. Kempf, Iv. Kittredge. Wm. Osband, Dr. F. K. Owen, P. W. Carpenter, Dr. E. F. Pyle. J. E. lJicmis, J. E, Beal, Geo. Rawson, Myron Cady, H. P. Thompson, J. B. Worlley. Gen Spaltliner, of Monroe, was made cfaalrmao and J. E. Beul, of Washtenaw, ¦eeretary. Dr, Owen was made chairman of the County delegation ; J. C. Knowlton, memlier of committee on eredentials, and Wm. .Itidson, committee on organization. Ab delegates to the Chicago convention, Gen. öpakiing, of Monroe, and C. T. Mitchell, ofHillsdale, were elected, with J. L. Gilbert, of Washtenaw, nnd B. F. Graves, of Lenawee, as alternatos. Resolutions were jiwsed unanimously to instrnct the deleftatea to nse all honorable means to elect Gen. Alger to the presidency, also to request the Belection of John K. Boies as delégate at large by the State convention. CoDgreMlonal committeemen elected were W. P. Upwood, of Hlllsdtle; C. R. Miller, of Lenawee; O. A. Critehett, of Monroe, and Dr. F. K. Owen, of Washtenaw, the latter being made chalrman. The meetiüg was short, harmonious and enthused at lts close by an eloquent littlc speecli from John K. Boies.
