'l'lie seheme to divide the Universitj and to place a part of it ia Detroit is no allowed to rest even in vacation, and t!i plotters are ever vorkinr :it it. But tliey received quita a set-back :it the last lle gents' meeting whcn a resolution wa ])assed to have the Professor appointed ii Dr. Dimster's place, ft man Wno shouli live in Ann Arbor. This was a wise move, and showed tliat the llegents do not proposc to be run by Detroit, or bj Professors who live there and worl agalntt Ann Arbor, simply to Ik lp thel own conveuience. It is a great University, but not grea enough to be divided into two smal unes. For ts very numberg now bring au increase, as there is entlnisiasm in immbers. If all should work together harmoni .n;ly, instead of putting obstacles in th way by crying it down, the medical de partment could liave all it wanted o cvi ry kind of clinics. Lor instance the) claim tbat obstetrics eannot be taugh properly from lack of cases. On tha point one of our city physieian?, who ha i'irge practice, informed us the otlier daj that lic amiually had many cases wbicl could be treated bi-fore a clinic or before several students, and tliat if the city phy sicians had a part of a lying-in hospita wliere patiënte could be taken they couW thtis belp the students to a plenty o cases. It is certain tbat witli prope facilities as many obstetrical clinics couk be had here as would be needed. There is no need for the s'udents to study here two ycars, tlien go to Detroit In facl they would not do it, for if they want to go lo a city for practical work they would go (as they do now) to New York, wliere it is the best. And i f, nsttad of being ur;ed to go there they were encouraged to stay here, many more would do so. Henceforth we want all new professors to be In sympathy ivitli the grand old University and not with n scllisli sóbeme for its disorganizatlon.
