Mr. Cnrman, of the Baptist cliurch, is tiking a vacation, at present visiting friends in Kalamazoo. He will return to hls pulpit the ii rat Sunday in August. The parade on the 4tli by the Germiin lodge A. O. IJ. W., the Arbeiter Verien, the Germán Workingmen's Society and the Beethoven Society, preceded by the Ann Arbor city band, was quite an attractive aff.ilr. After marchinsr through town they repaiied to Relief Park and had a good time during the rest of the day and evening. Rev. Chas. Rellley's addross at Dexter last Fourth of July, w:is a rnasterly ett'ort fllled wlth piitriotism and good words for the hearers. Among other thlngs he advised all of bis people to obtain a copy of that grand document, the Declaration of Independence, to read it themselves aml then teach it to thelr children. We have heard notbing but frood words for the eflort from any source. The A. M. E. church aiinoiinces a basket meeting Siinday, in the grove near St. Thomas' cemetery. Preacblng will be held at 10JÍ O"clock a. m., by Rev. E. E. Oregory, or Detroit. Pralse meetiug at 2 o'clock and preaching at 3 o'clock by Rev. O. B. Pope. In the evening services wil! be held at the church at 7:45 p. m.
