The Ashtnbula Times: "The National Tlieatre Company mude its tirst appearance here at Smith's Opera I louso lust ni}rbt, xrcsentinj;thcold, but ever popular drama, Hazel Kirke. A prent many companies who present a large number of plays, and pUy at cheap prices, do not present very artistic or attractive entertainments. Those who went to see a fine pieci-, well presented, canie away well satislied, but those who went with the expectation of being humbugged, were liuppily disiippointud, astheplay throughout was presented in a very able maniier. Of those deseiving of special mention was Harry Gray, who took the dillicult part of Dmistat: Kirke, the father of Hazel, in a highly artistic raanner; the ilazel Kirke of Miss Rose Goodall was vcry good, she being a very charming actress. In fact, the entire cast performed their several parts well. and in a manner satisfactory to everybody. The enter, tainuient concluded with the farce, Snator McFee, wilh George Harris, as Miko Maloney. From the time the curtain raiseil for the farce, to time it was lowered, the audlence was kept in one contlnnal bowl. As a comedian, Mr. Harria made a decided hit, as liis liuinorous style of acting is positively irresistible.1'
