Million Dollar Rocks

A group of Wall Street businessmen-types are organizing a committee and perhaps millions of dollars, simply to go to the moon to get moon rocks.

According to the Wall Street Journal, millionaire toy manufacturer Louis Marx, representatives of stock brokerage houses and other investors are seriously considering incorporating what they call "Committee of the Future" and then selling public stock in it.

What they then plan to do is to purchase two giant Saturn-5 rockets from NASA, hire a couple of astronauts to drive, and send the pair to the moon for rocks. The Committee believes that, once back on Earth, the rocks will be worth millions. To make a little profit, however, they will have to sell their rocks for about $3.5 million per pound.

But they believe that if broken up into little chips, collectors might be willing to pay that amount.
