The Human Rights Party of Michigan is holding a state-wide convention Saturday and Sunday, January 27 and 28, in the Faculty Club Lounge in the Michigan Union, starting at 11:30 on Sat. and 12 on Sunday. RE HUMANIZE HRP!

For information about what's going on in town, call the Community Switchboard, 663-1111. And watch for the TRIBAL NETWORK to start operating soon!

The Ann Arbor SUN needs people who can letter, draw graphics and cartoons, and or layout. If you're interested, contact Kathy Kelley, 761-1709.

S.O.S. Community Crisis Center serving the Ypsilanti area and surrounding communities is having their next volunteer training session sometime in late February. It will consist of over 70 hours of comprehensive training in all aspects of crisis intervention and counseling and learning to deal with any contact they may encounter working on the phones or in the house. If you are into helping out or becoming a crisis worker call 485-3322 and leave your name.

Since the fire at the Community Center on Dec. 15, the organizations which had been in the center have had a hard time getting everything functioning again. The Community Center Coordinating Council organizations have moved to the old Canterbury House (above Marks) -- Ozone House, Drug Help, Free Clinic (seeing patients in the U-M Outpatient Clinic starting at 7 p.m. Mon-Thurs) and Community Center Project. Send contributions for C4 organizations, to Box 366, Ann Arbor. The Tribal Council organizations (People's Ballroom, Tribal Network, Ann Arbor SUN, and People's Committee offices) seem to have no space, since city council voted to tear down our community center (see city council news). To help the Tribal Council People's Community Center get together, send donations (any amount gladly accepted!) to Box 372, Ann Arbor Michigan.

The Ann Arbor SUN is desperately looking for 2 or 3 LARGE rooms somewhere in the central area of town to set up operations! We want to be able to write, produce and distribute the SUN from community offices. Got any leads call Kathy Kelley at 761-1709. Also if you have any spare materials, prestype, paper, typewriters, border tape, or YOURSELF get ahold of Kathy to help MOVE the SUN.

The Blind Pig got a far-out pen & ink drawing of a wooden nickel with a pig instead of a Buffalo on it for Christmas. It disappeared from the Pig before they could hand it up. If you can help them get it back call 7691849.

If you were at the People's Ballroom, or at the Community Center on Dec. 15 when the fire broke out, then you should truck on down to 1520 Hill St or call us at 761-1709. We're the Ann Arbor Tribal Council Defense Committee and we're conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire and its results. We need to talk to YOU.

The People's Recycling Committee would like to recycle what the people of Ann Arbor put in their garbage cans -- instead of taking all that stuff and dumping it somewhere, recycling it! The Recycling Committee needs the use of a truck in order to do this -- if you can help, come to the Recycling Committee meeting -- call Community Switchboard for thime and place.
