State Rewards Snitching

If the State Senate has its way, $600,000 will be put into the State Police budget as reward money for capture and imprisonment of drug dealers.

The program has a top reward of $50,000 for drug "kingpins" and rewards of $20,000 for persons convicted of having one kilo of heroin. Also included is a provision to give $3,000 to people who help convict anyone with 100 pounds of marijuana.

The appropriations bill gives the State Police $6.3 million more than is now being spent. The bill must still be approved by the State House of Representatives.
