A Frank Letter From a Lesbian Reader

SUN:

What in hell do you think you're doing with the anti-homosexual quote in the last paragraph of Paul Grant's record review of Lou Reed's Sally Can't Dance? [Editor's Note: for our readers who missed it, Paul’s review in the Sept. 27 – Oct. 4 SUN: "I recall Eileen Heckart in the movie Butterflies Are Free, who, when told by an angry avant garde playwright that drugs, homosexuality, violence and depravity are all part of life, replied: 'So is diarrhea, but I wouldn't want to see a play about it.' Lou, old boy, I leave those words to you."]

After the lip service you've given in support of the gay and feminist causes, as a lesbian feminist I find this little gem as proof of the type of phony liberal ego trip you're on. This was a strong affirmation of my seperatist [sic] politics.

The power you hold with this paper is disgusting when you pull this kind of shit. If you think us [sic] gays are decadent, why don't you come right out and print a position paper on it so everyone will know that you still stand tor patriarchy and repression?

POWER TO DYKES!

OFF SLIMY PIGS!

Angela Sweet

P.S. This may sound rhetorical but I don't have time to waste on a detailed explanation of my views on pigs like you.
