-We published last weeka cali for a convention for tho Countics of Eaton and Ingham. We republish to day a cali for the friends of liberty of Jackson Co., to meet on tho I7lh instant. We expect to hear of a Bpinted meeting and a very general attendance, If we remember right, Jackson County, last falJ, gave a greater vote for fche Liberty ticket, tlmn any other county in the State. If, however, one íown, at the Spring Election, gave half as many votos as the whole county gave last fall, wc shull look for a large increase at the coming election. Washtenaw will soon be forth cotning. Let ub hear from the Western countíes. The cause of liberty has tina advantage, that it has nothing to fear except from indifference and inoction. publish to day vhe account of the visit of this distinguished philanthropist to our nationaí metropolis. Have we not reason to be proud of our domestic institutions as here delineated by a foreigner? The address to the President of the United States by the Com. raitte of the Briiish and Foreign A. S. Society, of which he was the bearer, we have not room to publish. It takes the ground that the negro is by nature equal with olhur men; and that to hold sla ves is a crime against God, contrary to Christianity, and the moral sense of mankind. It is couched n vcry respeclful tenns, and ia signed by the venereable Clarkeson. Would it have een ai all undignified or improper, if the President liad pulitely acknowledged its reception?
