Victor E. Van Ameringen, 79, a
former Ann Arbor attorney, civic
leader and one-time president of

He had lived at the home since
July, 1953. Previously, he lived at
809 E. Kingsley St. here.
He was born June 7, 1876, in
•Hand. and came to this coun-
in 1898. He studied at Yale
i versify, and was graduated
m the University Law School
m 1905.
He practiced law in Ann Ar-
bor from the time of his gradua-
tion until his retirement in 1944.
Before his retirement, he was as-
sociated with Raymond K. Klaa-
sen, who continues to practice
here.
Mr. Van" Ameringen was a mem-
ber of the First Methodist Church,
a life member of Golden Rule Ma-
sonic Lodge 159, F & AM, and
served on the Board of Education
from 1934 to 1943, holding one
term as president."
In addition, he was a member
of the Chamber of Commerce, a
former chairman of the Washte-
naw County Republican Commit-
tee, a 'member of the Ann Arbor
Lawyers' Club and former presi-
dent of that organization, and a
former member of the Forest Hill
Cemetery Board.
In 1911, he was married to Ethel
Cleaver of Ann Arbor, She died
March 31, 1951. Also preceding
him in death was a daughter,
