John H. Herdman

Retired Hardware
Salesman Succumbs

John H. Herdman. 76, a retired
wholesale hardwal e salesman
who had lived her^ since 1917,
died yesterday afternoon at St.
Joseph's Mercy HorpitaJ after a
brief illness. He lived at 1405 E.
Park PI.

He was born Au^. S, 1879, in
Plymouth, a son of John F. and
Addie Taft Herdman. On Jan. 29,
1901, he was married to Bessie
Irene Edwards, who survives.
They celebrated their 55th wed-
ding anniversary last month.

Until his retirement in 1945, he
was a traveling salesman for
Buhl Sons, a wholesale hardware
firm in Detroit, being associated
with the company for 46 years.
Recently, he had held a part time
job at Veterans Hospital.

He was a Spani&h - American
War veteran and a member of
the Ross Granger caim- of Span-
ish-American War veterans. He
was also a member of Fraternity
Lodge 262, F&AM.

In addition to his wife, he is
survived by a sister-in-law, Mrs.
Mary South of Ypsilarti. An only
son, F. Alien Herdman, died Jan.
30, 1926. . |

Funeral services will be held at
2 p.m. Saturday at the Muehlig
Chapel with the Rev. William B.
Hutchinson officiating. Burial
will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the chapel.
It has been requester' that con-
tributions be made to the Heart
Fund in lieu of flowers.
