I lie Lonvention met, August I8th, and was callee! to order by A. L. Porter. Samuel Mead was called to the chair, aud A. L. Porter, appointed clerk. Ou ruotion, of Mr. Dermis, Micah Adams was elected President of the Convention, and A. L. Porter Secretury. On motion of Samuel Mead, a committee of five was appointed by the chair, te nomínate llepresentatives and County Coininismis8ioner. S. Mead, J. S. Dennis, Wm. Hartsough, Daniel Hehker, and William E. Peters composed Ibis committee. Adjourned to meet at 2 o'clock P. M. Ttco a'clock, P. M. On raotion, this report was accepted anc the individuals named, severally and uniiiii-. mously noininatcd. Samuel Mead offered the following preamble and reeolution, which was unaniraously accepted. Whereas, no Convention for the first Senatorial District having been called, und the time scarcely permittiiig to make the necessary arrangements for one, theiefore, Resolved, Thai th3 Convention do reeomend ARTHUR L. PORTER, to tbe AntiSlavery electora as candidatefor Senator for this District. On motion of D. Heüker, Resolved that the AntiSlavery electors in cach town in this county not already organized be earnestly requested to cali meetings and enter into an efficiënt organization as soon as possible, in anticipalion of the coming election, and report 6uch organization to the county anti-slavery comrnittee of correspondence. On motion of J. S. Dennis, Alanson Sheley, William E. Peters and A. M'Farren were appoiuted a committee ofdcnee for Wayne County with power to fill any vacancy in the above ticket, from whatever cause. On motion of Dr. Gregory, voted that the Secretary forward tlio proceedinga of ihi8 Convention for publication in the j nal of Liberty." i Adjourned, 6ne die. A L. PORTER, Sec'y.
