- John Clark, an Englishtist Missionary, has written a long letter from Lberia, describing the state of the col- ony. The eontentment and happiness of tho colonista may be surmised from the following brief extract : The desire manifested by the colonists to return to America issogreat that, if the vessels were supplied, such a oumber would leavc in them that thoso willing to remain would find themselves too few to protect themselvcs from the natives, and would tbercforc leavc on this account. - No obstacle but the want of menns prevents the return oí' the colonisls lo America; but this is a sufficient one, and confine? them to tho land of their exile. Othcr accounts represent provisions to be dear and ecarce, alihough the season has not been unfavorable, chiefly because all the colonista are traders - they prefur bartering with the natives to laborious employment in agricultura! operations.
