Tliis gathering of Anii-Slavcry Methodists in the West, was held ogrêeably to (he culi, at Cincinnati, on the 2üili of las month. From the proceedings aspublish ed in the last Philanthropisr, we infer iha it was a very inteiesting and prufitable meeting. The action of the Convention is givcn through the reporis of commitiees on Periodicals, the Bible cause, Colonization, U'eslc an A. S. Society, Liternry In stitutions, Missions, Doings of Genera Conference. We shall make use of these reportshereafter. Thefollowingpolilical action resolution was pasïed with a few dissenïing voices. "Convinced that slavery is one of tbe foulest of our National sins, and ought on jrounds stricily religious, to Ire strenuousy opposed by all who fear God, this conventiün earneslly recommend to all our riend--', who now are, or, hereafier shall be possessedof the eleciive franchise, to )ay a conscientious and paramount regard n every future exercise oí that franchise, to theslave question; and to support such candidates only, as shall in connection with olher quulificalions fora seat in thñgovormnent of a country professing christianify, decidedly pledge themseívcs n favor of a apeedy and effectual legislaiive enaclüient tor Ihe extmction ofihiamost unrhnslinn system." The coavention was spared from any collision wiih ihc mob spiril of Cincinnaij. The exercises were held in the Bapiist church and the Gih Presbvterian.
