Former Mayor's Grandson Passes In Bay City
BAY CITY - William Russell Wells, 62, grandson of Ann Arbor's ninth mayor, Dr. Ebenezer Wells, died yesterday in Mercy Hospital here.
Mr. Wells was a director of the National Bank of Bay City, the Bay City Trust Co., and the Detroit Fire and Marine Insurance Co.
Born in Bay City, he was a son of the late Charles R. Wells, a native of Ann Arbor, who was treasurer of the former Industrial Works in Bay City.
Surviving are Mr. Wells' wife, Leah; two sons, Charles R., of Bay City, and William P., of Detroit; a daughter, Mrs. John E. Caulkins, of Grosse Pointe, a sister, Mrs. J. Stanley See, of Bay City; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock Thursday morning in Trinity Episcopal Church, with cremation following in the White Chapel in Birmingham.
