Mrs. Edward Uphaus
Manchester Township
Resident, 79, Dies
MANCHESTER - Mrs. Margaret Uphaus, 79, lifelong resident of Manchester township, died suddenly yesterday morning at her home, 14731 Brewery Rd.
Mrs. Uphaus was born in Manchester township on Oct. 27, 1870, a daughter of the late David and Magdalena Kern Bower.
She first was married to Philip Ziegler of Manchester, who died on May 23, 1898. A second husband, John English, died on Jan. 3, 1902. A third husband, Edward Uphaus, whom she married on Jan. 20, 1909, died on Aug. 1. 1935.
Mrs. Uphaus was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and of the Alter Society of the church.
She is survived by a son, Donald Uphaus, at home; two grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Marie Harkness of Jackson.
The Rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock tomorrow night in the Jenter Funeral Home here, with funeral services, conducted by Rev. Walter E. Hennes, to be held in St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
