F. J. Grossman
MANCHESTER - Fred J. Grossman, 91, of 9670 Grossman Rd., Manchester Township, a lifelong resident of Washtenaw County, died yesterday at his home.
He was born Sept. 18, 1872, in Saline Township, a son of John and Elizabeth Gross Grossman.
He married Lydia Staebler Nov. 19, 1896 in Manchester. They lived all their married life in Manchester Township, with the exception of seven years spent in Lima Township.
Mr. Grossman retired from farming 25 years ago.
He was a member of Manchester Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Ralph, of Chelsea; a daughter, Mrs. Lowell (Alta) Parr of Manchester Township; four grandchildren; three brothers, Louis of Manchester and Irwin and Theodore, both of Jackson, and six sisters, Mrs. Amanda Carney of Kalamazoo; Mrs. Leile Pfister, Mrs. Bertha Seid and Mrs. Alma Barnes, all of Jackson; Mrs. Lora Pister of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Mrs. Lydia Ernst of Ann Arbor. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Jenter Funeral Home of Manchester, the Rev. H. Jesse Epps officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Manchester.
