Dies At Age 76
CHELSEA - David Mohrlock, 76, of 222 Park St., a former Chelsea businessman and former secretary of the Chelsea Board of Education, died Wednesday morning at University Hospital in Ann Arbor where he had been a patient since June 29.
Mr. Mohrlock was a partner with Charles Wortley in the Mohrlock-Wortley gasoline station on Park St. from 1935 to 1955. Following his retirement from business, Mr. Mohrlock served as school crossing patrolman for the Chelsea Public School for the past four years. He was a member of the Chelsea Methodist Church.
He also served as a deputy sheriff for the county for 11 years, and was a former member of the Chelsea Chamber of Commerce. He was secretary of the Board of Education for several years. He was a custodian at the Chrysler proving grounds near here for five years.
Mr. Mohrlock was born on Sept. 23, 1882, in Sylvan township, a son of Michael and Phillipina Alber Mohrlock. On Nov. 1, 1911, he married Blanche Wortley in Sylvan township. She survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a sister, Mrs. Clarence (Mary) Gauder of Tecumseh, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Burghardt Funeral Home in Chelsea, with the Rev. S. D. Kinde officiating. Burial will follow in Vermont Cemetery, Sylvan township.
