Willard Hardy
DEXTER - Willard G. Hardy, 49, of 9655 Winston Dr., Portage Lake, died at Veterans Hospital in Ann Arbor Thursday after a long illness. He was born March 12, 1915, in Coalwood, W. Va., the son of Thomas and Matilda Artis Hardy.
Mr. Hardy was a veteran of the U.S. Navy in World War II. He came to the Dexter area in 1955 from Amonate, W. Va.
He married Fern Ramsey May 22, 1937, in Tazwell, Va. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother, of Squire, W. Va.; two sons, Thommy L. of Portage Lake and Samuel A. of Chicago; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Irene) Wesphal of Ann Arbor and Hannah Jay Hardy, at home; two brothers, Lloyd of North Tazwell, Va., and Orville E. of Ann Arbor; one sister, Mrs. A. L. (Corilda) Hankins of Squire, W. Va., and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
His father died Sept. 12, 1964. Two brothers and one sister also are deceased.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Hosmer Funeral Home in Dexter with the Rev. M. Donald Eaton officiating. Burial will be in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Dexter. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.
