Age 81, passed away Monday at the Gilbert residence in Ypsilanti. She was born May 18, 1884 in Davison, Mich. She was married to Jacob W. Kelder, Sept. 6, 1913, he preceded her in death Dec. 12, 1955. Dr. Kelder was a retired professor of education at Eastern Michigan University at the time of his death. Mrs. Kelder was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Ladies Literary Club. She attended Michigan State Normal College, now Eastern Michigan University, The Detroit Conservatory of Music and Oberlin Ohio College observatory of music. She studied privately in New York City. Mrs. Kelder taught piano and organ at Central Michigan University and Ferris State College. She was the organist at the Ypsilanti Congregational Church for 12 years. Mrs. Kelder is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Jackson W. (Janet) Bates of Ovid, Mich; four grandchildren, Jackson H. Bates, David C. Bates, James Richard Bates and Mary Alice Bates, all of Ovid; a niece, Mrs. Allen McLean of Au Gres, and a cousin, Mrs. Pearl Lindquist of Ypsilanti. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Geer Funeral Home with the Rev. William A. Bingham officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Kelder may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund. Envelopes are available at the Geer Funeral Home where friends may call.
