William F. Matzinger
Retired Groceryman
Dies In East Ann Arbor
William F. Matzinger, 75, retired Indiana groceryman, died this morning at the home of a son, Reginald Matzinger of 2548 Fernwood St., East Ann Arbor, where he had lived for the past three years.
Mr. Matzinger was born in Kendallville, Ind., on Feb. 12, 1875, a son of Abraham and Johanna Roth Matzinger. He was married to the former Gertrude Frend, who died on July 16, 1947.
Mr. Matzinger had operated a grocery store in Kendallville for several years before his retirement in 1947. He was a member of the Kendallville chapter of the Oddfellows Lodge.
In addition to the one son in East Ann Arbor, Mr. Matzinger is survived by another son, William G. Matzinger of Charlevoix; two sisters, Mrs. Idah Burton and Miss Dorothy Matzinger, both of Toledo; and three grandchildren.
Mr. Matzinger's body was returned to Kendallville today for funeral services there on Friday.
