Unpublished Carl Sandburg Works To Be Heard Here

Many unpublished works of American humorist and poet Carl Sandburg will be heard for the first time Thursday evening when screen and stage stars Bette Davis and Gary Merrill present “The World of Carl Sandburg.” The production will begin at 8:30 p.m. in Hill Auditorium.

Featured with Miss Davis and Merrill will be actor William Wintersole and guitarist Clark Allen. This is the first time Sandburg has ever given blanket theatrical rights to his material. It was he who originally suggested Miss Davis deliver his poetry. The presentation also is the first time Miss Davis and her husband, Merrill, have appeared on stage together.

Tickets are on sale daily at the auditorium box office. Box office hours for Wednesday are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m
