Age 86, died Thursday at her home after an extended illness. She was born November 1, 1892 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, a daughter of James J. and Margaret McKinnon Hassett. She had been a resident of Ann Arbor for 60 years. She was married to Professor Sherzer October 19, 1916; he died August 6, 1962. She was a charter member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and of the Altar Society of the Church. She was also a member of Chapter G P.E.O. Sisterhood. Survivors include: two sons, Monsignior William J. Sherzer, Pastor of St. Valentine's Catholic Church, Redford Township, John A. Sherzer of Ann Arbor, President of Sherzer Pumps; seven grandchildren; two brothers, John Hassett of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and James Hassett of Buffalo, New York; one sister, Eileen Bishop Maloney of St. Ignace, Michigan; several nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with her son, Monsignior William J. Sherzer officiating. Burial will be made in the St. Thomas Cemetery. Friends may call at the Muehlig Chapel 7-9 p.m. Friday. A prayer service will be held at the chapel at 8 p.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Gabriel Richard Dad's Club for the benefit of the High School Athletic Program at Gabriel Richard High School in care of Gabriel Richard High School.
