Smithe, Miss Geneva Josephine

Age 77, died Saturday as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident. She was born March 19, 1891 in Ypsilanti the daughter of George C. and Stella Wyatt Smithe. Miss Smithe lived in the Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti area all of her life. She was a graduate of Ypsilanti Normal (now EMU) and in 1924 became secretary for the Department of Zoology at the U of M Museum. Miss Smithe was active in the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church where she had served as secretary since 1957. She was also a member of the Third Order of the Church and past president of the Altar Society. No near relatives survive. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday from St. Francis of Assisi Church. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the Muehlig Chapel where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. this evening.
