1 he Anti-Abohtionists of WeeternJ Michigan oeem deterrnined to put down the hateíul heresy of Libeny principies by discussion, or rather by declamation. Tliis is right, gentlc.-neri. Truth is mighty, and icill prevail. If ve are on a false foundation, we shall infalhbly go down. If we are correct m our principies, discussion wlll only hasten thcir adoption. The Centrevile Democrat, June 22, has the following notice. PUBLIC LECTUHE. The Hon. C ingerson will deliver a lecture at the íáeoich Church m Centrcville, on Tuesday evening next, the 28th inst., upon the impolicy oí a poHtieal organization for the aboliiion ofslavery in the United States, under the constitutional compact, ormed by the peopie and the danger aitending Geographical distinciions of party influenceThe same paper centains a com mu ni catión of more than two columns on political abolitionism, written ín better style than the one from which we quoted last week, but aboundiug iq blunders, and misrepresentations. It has some items oí Information that will be ney to our readers. - The writer says the aboiitionists have posis es tablished throiighout the country, and intelligence is conveyed from one to another by 'private couriers' with the greatest faciliiy. He says the abolition society received iis grand impulse at the World'8 Convention at London, and there the scheme of the aboiitionists was 2rojccted. - Immediately on the remrn of the dclegates from London, their operations cemmenctd- presses were purchasecl, lectures sent iorth, &c. The writer had better examine into facis a little more closely. At the time oi that Convention, severa! A. S. papers had been published for years, some 500 anti-slavery societies had been formed, and even in Michigan the State A. S. Society had been in existence four years! He finishes wih the usual tirado about amalgamation, advising slaves to steal, want of patriotsm, &c &.c.a inena wntes us, June 2i): 'V c had an interesting meeting at Centreville the JOih inst., in which the Rev. Mr. Northrup and Rev. Mr. Newberry. oí White Pigeon, andjlev. Mr. Cleveland were tfie speakers. "Mr. Ketchum was invited to defend his Bíble slavery principies, but decline, Mr. Northrup answered the Bible argument effectually, but without referer.c-3 to Mr. Ketchum, not having heard his lectures. Mr. J. S. Chipman spent two hours in denouncing abolitionisis becausc they wanted. as he said, to pull down the constitution; and made a great many very absurd and contradictory assertions. One was, and it was often repeated, that slavery was a great blot upon our national etscutcheon- another, ihat should the slaves riso and assert and maintain their Iiberties, hewould be the Iaat to oppose them; and in the very next breath he asserted that slavery wassustaincd by the Biblo. "Immcdiately on Mr. Chipman's closing his eflbrt. the meeting unanimously (exccpt Mr. C.) passed a resolution, that we only desired to sustain the constitutíon, and that we believed antislavery principies were the only means by which it could be saved. "We are to have another meeting the 3Oth inst., when Mr. Cleveland is to deliver two lectures." Thustheworkgo eebravely on': Messrs. Chipman, Ketchum and Ingerson are calling on the public to examine''the Liberty principies, and tliere can be no doubt but they will receive the attention they merit.
