Garden Club To Decorate Christmas Trees In Style Of Foreign Countries At Holiday Tea

"Christmas in Other Lands" will be the theme of the annual Christmas program which will be presented by the Ann Arbor Garden Club at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Women’s City Club for members and their guests.

Christmas trees, each decorated in the style of a different country, and musical entertainment will be featured at the program.

The tree display is under the direction of Mrs. J. G. Tarboux of Riverview Dr. and her assistant, Mrs. Lawrence Hoffman of S. Forest Ave.

Displays will be made by Mrs. Ralph Berry of North Barton Dr., Barton Hills, representing Scandinavia; Mrs. C. Merle Dixon of Zeeb Rd., Scio township, and Mrs. Otto Greschke of Ferdon Rd., representing Germany; Mrs. James Grace of Hogback Rd., Ann Arbor township, representing modern America; Mrs. John Dillon of E. Huron River Dr., Ann Arbor township, and Mrs. Travis Cash of Broadway, representing early America; Mrs. Hoffman, representing France; Mrs. Tarboux, representing Italy and Mexico; Dr. Jane Hayward of Kenilworth Dr., representing England, Mrs. R. S. McNamara of Highland Rd., representing Austria; Mrs. David Reed of E. Huron River Dr., Ann Arbor township, and Mrs. F. A. Filie of Chalmers Dr., Ann Arbor township, representing Romania and Yugoslavia.

Mantle decorations will be done by Mrs. Robert Ellis of Overridge Dr., Mrs. Walter Lay of Geddes Ave. and Mrs. F. N. Calhoun of Oswego St. Other decorations will be arranged by Mrs. Charlotte Rueger and Homer Rueger of Longshore Dr. and Mrs. James Grace of Hogback Rd., Ann Arbor township.

The musical entertainment will be a recording of “Amahl and the Night Visitors,” a Christmas operetta by Menotti.

Mrs. Walter Badger of Cedar Bend Dr., assisted by Mrs. Filie, will arrange the tea table.

Hostesses for the afternoon will be the officers and committee chairmen. They are Mrs. E. H. Leslie of Traver Rd.. Mrs. Lawrence Maugh of Roxbury Rd., Mrs. George Wild, sr. of Packard St., Mrs. R. H. Kingery of Morton Ave., Mrs. Walter C. Pomeroy of Oakland Ave., Mrs. James R. Hayward of Kenilworth Dr., Mrs. Raleigh Schorling of Highland Dr., Mrs. Harry Hawkins of Lafayette Rd., Mrs. Ralph Berry of Barton Dr., Mrs. Carl N. Hanke of Cherokee Rd., Mrs. Marley B. Beckett of Glacier Way, Ann Arbor township, and Mrs. Lay.
