YPSILANTI - Miss Julia Stevens, 100 years old, resident of Ypsilanti for the past 86 years, died last night after a short illness.
She was born Sept. 9, 1843, in Vermont, a daughter of Asaph and Hannah Stevens, and the family lived a short time in Massachusetts before coming to Michigan in 1857. For many years Miss Stevens was in the millinery business here, and she was the last surviving charter member of the local Congregational church who had maintained her membership constantly in that organization since its formation in 1882.
There are no surviving relatives, and she has recently made her home with Miss Ethelyn MacKenzie, 411 N. Huron St.
Funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock Friday at the Moore funeral home here, with Rev. Harvey C. Colburn and Rev. Gordon Speer officiating. Burial will be in Highland cemetery here.
