A public appeal for aid in locating a pair of purple shoes, which Alice E. Kalom bought the day before she was slain, was made today by Prosecuting Attorney William F. Delhey and Sheriff Douglas J. Harvey.
The shoes were purchased at a local store by Miss Kalom on June 7, two days before her slashed body was found on an abandoned farm off N. Territorial Rd. in Northfield Township. A pair of brown loafers, was found near a gravel pit near Earhart Rd., where she apparently was slain.
But the purple shoes have never been located, although the box in which they were stored and a receipt for them was found in Miss Kalom's Thompson St. apartment. Delhey and Harvey made the appeal for aid in finding the shoes at a press conference in the County Jail this afternoon.
