They appeared extremely gratifiud thnt tfjey had broken away from t!ie old liastile of the South, and were soon to inhale the air of freedom. in "Queen Victoria's land." We took an inventory ol (hese "human cattlc." from which it appeared they were worth nbout 4,140 00. even in tliese hard times. The "Mastï.ks," to whom we send our pnper this weclt, are assured tliat L'jwis, Charles, Qeögo, &r with their wives and cliildren are safe in Canada, beyond the rencli of their oppressors. Pause, friends of the South, for a single moment, and ask yourselv.is if these fugitives aie guilty of crime in making tlieir escape - or wbether they have done more tlian you would do were yoü alavés.
